oh right, here's the link to the 3d max file:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B76QFRnX7gPLS0haMDc1Q01mOVU

for lecturer? i think. i don't even understand this submission.

WIP whutt.

Should I populate this place with all the photos I saved? ok.

tested adding grass. it became fur. if settings were adjusted properly, could have been nice, but supposedly extends rendering time, which i had no patience for.

quality vs. rendering time. first one was without gather points; 2nd, with gather points set on draft.

oh, look: my project 1 made a cameo!

test rendering lighting for the walking down stairs scene. can see the glass bocor up there. fixed that.

test render lighting downstairs.

blowing up the glass. looks like some alien power. wuuu~~

in retrospect, this is actually a nice angle. but i was afraid of blowing up the camera. ah well.

boom goes the glass.

boom goes the roof.

...yeah, just one big mess.

my favourite scene. heh heh heh...

guess this is goodbye to this blog? it was kinda fun. stressful, but if time permitted, could've gone better.
.
.
.
.
.
feel like doing more future animation though. if inspiration strikes. may keep this blog alive for that. maybe. til whenever.

xo. :p

Enjoy.

Progress

Looking good. But lemme tell you, staring at a computer screen for hours can really mess up your head. Like, really. *Breathes*

Attempt no. 1

Tried drawing then extruding the walls. Realized I was doing it the wrong way.
Delete and start again from scratch!

I'm starting to think that constructing in 3dsmax is all about method. Once you plan what you wanna do properly, the rest is just *click click click*.

The switch

So I gotsa problem. My Fallingwater won't let me edit it without hanging (or drowning). So I can't add further context, or do the interior. :OO

Solution: do my final project last sem. I didn't want to initially, coz I thought it was too simple. But I've kinda got no choice now, seeing I don't possibly have the time to study a completely new building. Oh well, maybe I can focus on detail. Hope it pays off.

What is falling?

Decided to change my building. That was mad.

An interesting method? But seems to work great so far.

Perks of doing a building you've already studied and stared at for hours, you seem to do it pretty fast. ^_^

Project 2

Decided to do the Lotus Temple, because I am mad.

Also thought it looks majestic. But that's a side note.

See you on the other side. If I survive.

Made a glass vase. It's standing on ceramic tiles under a 2pm sun.

Everything looks better when it's stylised.

Hmm... Maybe it's not too bad. (Maybe I'm delusional. lol) Still needs tweeking though.

Just tweeking. Shalt not redo from scratch.

Depressed about my sculpture. Should've consulted lecturer when i had the chance, but now it's too late. maybe there's a way i can salvage it. i  hope. i'll try.

3 time's a charm? Ribbon Swan.

Decided to restart, yet again, and try a different method.

Drew the simple swan skeleton (simplified it to 2 simple lines), positioned them in 3D then offset the lines, joined the ends, and created a u-loft between them. Made some adjustments to get the ribbon-like swan structure seen above. Took an hour or so, kinda fast, I'd say, once you have the method clear in your head. I just need to figure out how to fatten the swan to an actual sculpture. We'll see how it goes.

A wing it is

Saw a friend import a reference picture to 3ds max and traced it, so I decided to forego my duck tail and try this method instead. (Since the duck tail seemed too tedious anyway.
Traced the front elevation (considering where the lines would look like in 3D) then moved points on the NURBS curves to fit the side elevation (which i imported as well in a different viewport). Then I added to U loft to the wing, and viola.

I think it looks pretty good so far, just a little paper thin. Hopefully I can fix that. That shall be it for the night.

Duck Tails

Target selected: A beautiful swan sculpture. It even has a 360 view online! (http://sculptor.asia/swan2.html)

But after trying to start with tracing the front elevation in auto-cad and importing it into 3ds-max, i realized that altering the elevation wasn't gonna work for me. I proceeded to start with the wing, but that didn't work either.

So a duck tail I started with. Oh well, doesn't every swan start off as an ugly duckling?
